This morning, on CSPAN, a four star Air Force general spoke on behalf of the government's recently revealed spying program on U.S. citizens. Apparently the general works for the NSA. There are clues here that "our country" is already a lost cause and that "We the People" have absolutely no control anymore over what takes place in our government. As a former military officer myself, I can assure you that this man is overstepping his position as a servant of the people and the constitution that places you firmly in command. It is his job to defend you, not to tell you what to think. If the people are being spied upon by the NSA (and I'd assume all of the other letter agencies and military intelligence as well), it is not to make us safer.
When has a spy ever spied on the people he or she wished to protect? This general and every other officer or enlisted man working in a letter agency or military intelligence should know that spying is an act of war and a precursor to military action against an enemy. You spy in your enemies, not your own people. Thus the government has declared itself the enemy of the people! Military personnel swear to protect the constitution against all enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC. People who dissent and demand accountability from the government are following the constitution to the letter. To know that the American people are being spied on and to not act against the perpetrators on behalf of the constitution to which you swore is sedition and treason. The general works for the president who works for the people, or at least should, and is in no place to tell us what to think, but should only be listening to what we have to say. If you are not on active duty, you outrank that general and thus you are much more qualified to tell us what we should think and do about being spied upon, so I beg you to go out and do so! You should be able to got up to any military person responsible for spying on us or serving as an apologist for such spying activity, whose salary you pay, by the way, and rip off their rank, ribons, patches, and the uniforms themselves. Chew them out, demote them, make them do push ups and eight count body builders, because they work for you and they're having a major malfunction and they need to be squared away! One question the general declined to answer was "Is the government spying on organizations and individuals who oppose President Bush and the War in Iraq?". My conclusion is that the correct answer is YES! YES!! YES!!! They spied on civil rights leaders during that as yet unfinished struggle! They've spied on antiwar activists before.
The government's argument is always that it is acting in the interest of our safety. 911 is always invoked; as it was by the NSA general. Look, 911 was horrible. Three thousand people died five years ago. O.K. Guess what? Over 1 Million Americans died of cancer since 911, including over 200,000 Americans in 2005! Where's the 200 Billion dollars to protect us from that much greater threat! With what we spent invading other countries, universal health care could be detecting potentially fatal health problems early so that action can be taken to save millions of lives from
America's real enemies which are heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and aids.
Here are my favorite two questions in the world for post 911 fascists...................................
1. How many family members did you loose on 911? Then thank whatever you pray to or don't pray to, console the few who did, and move on!
2. How many have you lost or might you loose (including yourself) to cancer, aids, heart disease, or diabetes? EXACTLY!! [END OF DISCUSSION]
The safety argument, of course, is irrelevant since the U.S. Military and CIA are the actual 911 terrorists who both planned and executed the attack on the American People.

Here we are, a country that supposedly exists because we were willing to give up safety for freedom. Starving and freezing to death at Valley Forge and opposing the Empire of Madd King George was not safe, but freedom (at least for whites) was more important! Walking slowly in a line in a bright blue uniform towards a line of a thousand well armed southern country boys (who I'll admit can shoot like nobody's business) is not safe, but keeping americans free, even those who don't look like most Americans was more important to many. If you respect those people, then you should be willing to give up a little "security" to preserve your own freedoms by opposing the new Patriot Act! To think "Muslim Terrorists" killed 3000 restauraunt workers, file clerks, secretaties, airline crewmembers and travellers to convert us to Islam is pure insanity and stupidity! Also, to think suicide attacks by muslims are a threat to your safety is pure paranoid insanity. First of all, no one is really converted by fear. To be converted, you have to actually believe something. It has to fill your heart without doubt or reservation. This, by definition, cannot be achieved by force, and is in fact made impossible by the use of force. The same applies to "democracy" and "freedom". Pretending to follow a religion or going through the motions of prayer at the point of a rifle is not belief and every faithful follower of every religion knows that. That's why you never see hostages praying at the point of a gun.
When have you ever heard a hostage, such as the ones held for years in Iran, say "They tried to convert me to Islam"? I read the report written by Michael Durant, an Army Warrant Officer who was held hostage in Somalia by alleged sympathizers of Al Quaeda. Nowhere in there did he say he was given the choice between conversion and death. Quite to the contrary, his life was spared in spite of his role in the massacre of Somalis evicting foreign storm troopers just as armed American citizens would if we were invaded. In fact, he made friends for God's sake.
Suicide bombers cannot "destroy America" There are almost 300 million people in this country and our civilian populace is better armed than any in history. "Radical Islamist groups" and suicide bombers haven't even been able to overpower Israel which is right next door to them and much weaker than it's American parent, so how are they going to pose a threat to the United States?
I'll tell you who can pose a threat to entire nations and can kill an entire demographic should it choose to do so! History has proven this! That's an over militarized, fascist nation where the people are driven by fear to do the bidding of a government that convinces them to give up every right and freedom for protection against evil, inferior foreigners. That threat to humanity and freedom uses a clever mixture of propagandized "News" which blames our real problems on religious and ethnic minorities, then quickly diverts to trash that has no bearing on our day to day lives. Entertainment is also loaded with propaganda, with plenty of evil foreigners being eradicated by brave storm troopers, or abusive, murdering "tough cops who get results" justly threatening, torturing, and killing people with no trial, no representation, and no jury.
Never, ever, in history has a nation been destroyed, (let alone an empire) or a people been forcefully converted by isolated suicide attacks on civilians taking place years apart. Dont you let anybody say attacks are stopped by added security. That is total bullshit!!! Do you really think a suicide bomber is afraid of an unarmed, underpaid, TSA worker looking down at a bag? If you're going to kill yourself anyway, would you be afraid of getting discovered by a security guard? How much are you paying for useless crap like that? American nuclear bombs didn't kill everyone in Japan or convert Japan to Christianity. The horrible devastation of Mount Vesuvius didn't destroy Rome. In Rome's case, it was an Empire with too much power and no equality feeding dissenters and religious and ethnic minorities to wild animals and forcing them to fight to the death that did the trick!
